The 132 kV double-circuit transmission line along the Kabeli Corridor was brought back into operation at 4:30 PM Monday, November 4, according to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
On September 28, the flooded Mai River had damaged four towers at Dhodrebensi, located in Wards 1 and 7 of Mai Municipality of Ilam district. While towers 50 and 53 were partially damaged by the floods, towers 51 and 52 were completely destroyed.
The authority and 20 private sector hydropower projects connected to the transmission line jointly carried out the reconstruction and restoration work.
Entrepreneur Mohan Karki, who was involved in the reconstruction, said it took 19 days to complete the repair work.
The NEA provided the materials, including parts of the transmission line, while the private sector hydropower projects covered the labour costs and other expenses. Each project contributed a specific amount for the reconstruction, NEA said on Tuesday. Karki led the team from the private sector.
Following the repair, hydropower projects in Taplejung, Panchthar, and Ilam districts have resumed electricity production.
