Karnali Yaks secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pokhara Avengers in the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Tuesday, December 10.
The Yaks restricted the Avengers to just 103 runs in 16.3 overs and chased down the target comfortably in 15 overs, losing only three wickets.
Gulshan Jha played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs, while Chadwick Walton contributed 42 runs. Babar Hayat and William Bosisto added 7 and 2 runs, respectively, with the Yaks benefiting from 6 additional extras.
For Pokhara, Bipin Khatri, Sagar Dhakal, and Kushal Bhurtel claimed one wicket each. The Avengers struggled to set a competitive total with their middle and lower order failing to make significant contributions. Dinesh Kharel (26 off 19 balls), Andreas Gous (25 off 12 balls), and Raymon Reifer (20 off 26 balls) were the key contributors for the team.
William Bosisto was the standout bowler for the Yaks, taking six wickets in his four-over spell for just 28 runs. Captain Sompal Kami, Bipin Sharma, and Yunish Thakuri each claimed one wicket. Bosisto, who also took two catches, was named Player of the Match.
This victory marked Karnali Yaks’ third win in five matches. Though Karnali, Sudurpaschim Royals and Chitwan Rhinos have 6 points each, Yaks are ranked 4th on the basis of run rate.
In contrast, Pokhara Avengers dropped to 6th place, with just one win in four matches.
The top two teams in the standings – Janakpur Bolts and Sudurpaschim Royals – will face off in the first match on Wednesday, December 11. Later in the day, Kathmandu Gurkhas and Lumbini Lions will battle for the crucial two points.
