Election Date Announcement Welcomed By International Community

The international community has welcomed the announcement of the date for holding Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on November 19. Jennifer R. Paski, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, at daily press briefing in Washington D.C. on Thursday said, “We welcome the announcement by the Interim Election Council of Ministers in Nepal that Constituent Assembly elections will take place on November 19.’’ So far, India, The European Union, Norway and Switzerland too have announced their support to the election programme.

UCPN (M) Forms Poll Campaign Body

The UCPN (Maoist) on June 14 launched an election campaign forming a 65-member Election Mobilisation Committee led by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The panel is mandated to prepare an election policy and strategy and organise a campaign across the country. Committee members include Vice-chairmen Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha, General Secretary Post Bahadur Bogati, chiefs of the party’s five bureaus, coordinators of its 14 state committees and the heads of the party wings.
