May 8: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has initiated a study on the impact of the coronavirus and lockdown on the country's economy. The study also focuses on determining the priorities for the budget of upcoming fiscal year.
With the objective of analyzing the impact of coronavirus and lockdown and formulating the necessary approach, Nepali Congress on Wednesday (May 6) formed a 14-member special committee lead by former Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat to conduct the study.
The political party informed that it will give suggestions to the government and raise the issues in the parliament accordingly.
Nepali Congress in a statement informed that the committee will study the impact of the coronavirus and lockdown on the country's economy. Likewise, it will also formulate the party’s perspectives on building the current economy, policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
The party after concluding its study will make suggestions to the government.
