Govt Extends CDC Deadline
The government has extended the deadline of the Constituency Delineation Commission for another 10 days. The Interim Election Council, after a meeting on Thursday, took the decision to extend the deadline upon the request of the CDC, informed spokesperson and Minister of Information and Communication Madhav Prashad Poudel.

The government had formed the commission under the coordination of former Supreme Court Justice Tahir Ali Ansari on June 14. The High Level Political Committee had formed an eight-member committee earlier to resolve constitutional and political difficulties pertaining to the delimitation of constituencies. The committee, however, failed to find an amicable solution to the problems.

CPN-Maoist Launches Campaign Against Polls

The dissident party CPN-Maoist has launched its campaign to foil the November polls. Its leader Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ smashed a mock ballot box with a hammer amid a protest program held by the party in the Capital on Thursday as a symbolic protest to disrupt the election scheduled for November 19.

Earlier, the party had held a press conference at its office in Buddhanagar to announce the campaign against the election. During the conference, however, party chairperson Mohan Baidya said that his party was ready for ‘unconditional dialogue’.
