KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has hiked the prices of petroleum products effective from Monday midnight. As per the revised list, the price of petrol will rise by Rs 4 per liter and diesel by Rs 3 per liter.
According to the NOC, it decided to hike the price after receiving the new price list sent by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the sole supplier to the NOC. The IOC has sent revised prices of petroleum products, with petrol prices going up by Rs 4.48 per liter and diesel by Rs 2.83 per liter.
Following the price hike, the cost of petrol per liter in the first category, which includes Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhganj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj, has been fixd at Rs 168.50 per liter, while diesel will be priced at Rs 157.50 per liter.
In the second category which includes Surkhet and Dang, petrol will be priced at Rs 170 per liter, and diesel at Rs 159 per liter.
In the third category, which includes Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 171 per liter and that of diesel at Rs 160 per liter.
Prior to this, the NOC had increased the prices of petroleum products on June 30.
