7th NRNA Int’l General Assembly kicks off; Global Conference on October 16- 17

October 14: The 7th Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) international general assembly (IGA) and global conference has kicked off in Kathmandu from today. The event will elect a new leadership for the next two years.

The programme with the slogan ‘NRNA: True Partner for Reconstruction’ will be concluded focusing on the participation of NRNs in post-quake reconstruction.

The IGA will be held on October 14 and 15 and the global conference on October 16 and 17, according to NRNA President Sesh Ghale.

The global conference will be inaugurated by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on October 16. More than 1,500 representative have already arrived from 71 countries, said Ghale.

The tourism and hotel business that was badly hit by the earthquake will make progressive success with the arrival of summit’s representative, claimed he. The association is planning to utilize the amount raised from IGA and conference for reconstruction.

“A total of Rs 20 million will be collected as registration charge and from the sponsors,” said Ghale adding, “We are planning to keep the expenditure within Rs 10 million so that the rest can be mobilized for reconstruction.”

The programme is being organized jointly by Nepal Government, FNCCI and NRNA. According to Ghale, the upcoming executive committee will give priority to rebuild 1,000 homes and to the construction of the Association’s own building.
