November 22: The 34th International Elephant Polo competition has kicked off at Amaltari of Nawalparasi on Sunday.
The sport chosen for the playground is the community forest of the buffer state in the western belt of the Chitwan National Park.
The playground lies near the Tharu home stay.
The players entered the ground with elephants.
The game is Nepal's typical sport begun since 1982. The players are on elephants as pillion riders while the elephants are controlled by mahout. With the help of elephants, the ball is taken to post by the players.
The game was played in the Bardiya National Park last year. It is organized by Tiger Tops Hotel every year.
There are eight groups including from Switzerland, the UK, Sri Lanka, Australia, Arabia, US and Nepal are participating in the game.
