Environment-friendly vehicle rally in Kathmandu

November 25: The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MoSTE) organized a rally here today with an objective to spread awareness on the importance of electric vehicles at a time when the country is reeling under acute fuel-crisis.

More than 200 environment-friendly vehicles, including bicycles, electronic cars, scooter and three-wheelers (safa tempo), participated in the event.

The rally that kicked off at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur and marched through various places in Kathmandu as Tripureshower-Ratnapark-Keshar Mahal-Narayanhiti Dakshin Dhoka-Putalisadk and Babarmahal.

Inaugurating the rally, Minister for Science, Technology and Environment Biswendra Pashwan urged the consumers to opt for environment-friendly vehicles at the time of fuel-crisis like this.

"Use of environment-friendly vehicles also helps reduce the increasing air pollution in Kathmandu," argued Minister Pashwan.

He also underscored the frugal use of petroleum products and use of environment-friendly vehicles in the other regular times rather than during the fuel-crisis.

Participant in the rally were former chief secretary Leelamani Poudel, Secretary of MoSTE Dr Krishna Chandra Poudel and Chief of Environment Division Mahendraman Gurung among others. RSS
