January 7: The Investment Board has agreed to focus on hydropower production, bearing in mind the severe energy crisis facing the country.
The Board meeting Thursday that took place at its central office, New Baneshwor under the chair of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli focused on the timely completion of big hydro power projects such as the West Seti, Arun III, upper Tamakoshi, and upper Karnali. Deliberations were also held on how to complete them within the deadline, Board Chief Executive Officer Radesh Pant said.
The meeting agreed to form a committee headed by National Planning Commission Vice Chair Dr Yubraj Khatiwada to prepare a report on essential measures to be taken for the overall development of the country.
Deputy Prime Minster and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokhrel were also present in the meeting.
