February 8 : After the reopening of the Birgunj custom port, truck containers with goods have started entering Nepal. But there are some hassles pertaining to paperwork. Traders say that since the cargo trucks have been stranded for over four months, it will take some time to prepare new papers.
A number of trucks and containers had been rerouted due to the blockade. Around 150 of them had been stranded in Raxaul. Over seven hundred containers destined to Birganj are also held up at the Kolkata dock. The traders said it would take around a week.
Sending back of empty containers would take around twenty days. Losses amounting to over five billion rupees had been incurred due to the containers being held up.
