March 24: Chaudhary Foundation (CF) has handed over 179 transitional homes (CG Shelters) to the survivors of the devastating earthquakes of last year in Gorkha district. The foundation has handed over the shelters to the quake survivors in Gorkha Municipality-1, 2 and 12.
Former chief secretary of Nepal government, Lilamani Paudyal, handed over the shelters to the quake survivors amidst a function held at Padelthor of Gorkha, on Monday.
“The shelters have provided some relief to the quake survivors,” said Paudyal. Stating that at a time when the government has not been able to rebuild or hand over a single shelter to the quake survivors, he praised the efforts of the foundation in providing more than 2000 CG homes to survivors of the natural disaster.
In a prompt response to the April 25 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks, CF had said it would build 10,000 transitional homes and 100 primary schools. The foundation has already handed over CG Shelters in Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Gorkha (Taklung), among other quake-affected areas.
