March 24: As many as 309 students in Jhapa district are barred from taking the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Exam for failing to secure at least 75 per cent of annual school attendance.
According to the Assistant District Education Officer Ganesh Adhikari, a total of 16,985 students from various 104 secondary schools are appearing in the SLC exam this year. Of them 2,285 are girls and rest 1,197 are boys.
Last year a total of 717 students were denied taking the exam, also popularly known as the 'Iron Gate' among the students. The exam, which lasts through more than a week, is going to start from March 31.
According to data of education office, this year 13,497 regular students are appearing in the exam in which 6,456 are boys and 7,041 are girls. Similarly, 3,482 exempted students are also appearing this year’s SLC exam in which 1,197 are boys and 2,285 are girls. RSS
