March 24: 80 percent of preparations for the 13th Handicraft Trade Fair and 11th Craft Competition have been completed. The event which will be held on May 5- 9 in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu is being organized by Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal (FHAN) with the support of Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC)." Almost all preparations for the fair is complete," says President of FHAN, Dharmaraj Shakya. According to Shakya, 75 percent stalls have already been booked and more than 40 buyers are confirmed to participate in the fair. “35 buyers from China, 20 from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and European countries are expected to participate in the event,” he informs.
FHAN is organizing the fair with an aim to popularise and promote Nepal-made handicraft products in the domestic and International markets. The fair will include handicraft products from more than 45 districts of the country. The fair will have more than 200 stalls and also include products from China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The fair is expected to attract 300,000 visitors with business of around Rs 100 million.
