Basanta Chaudhary Decorated with Prestegious Moroccan Medal

April 5 : Industrialist Basanta Kumar Chaudhary has been awarded with the prestigious 'Alawite Officer Wissam' medal by the Kingdom of Morocco.  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa decorated Chaudhary in a ceremony organized in Kathmandu on April 3.  Chaudhary, who is also the Honorary Consul of Morocco in Nepal, received the medal for his contributions in improving the mutual and bilateral relationship between Nepal and the North African kingdom. Chaudhary has been the Honorary Consul of Morocco in Nepal since 2007. The bilateral relation between the two countries was established in 1975.

Located in Maghreb region of North Africa, Morocco is a fast growing economy. Agriculture, chemical fertilizers, tourism, industry, mines are its main income sources. Every year more than 10 million tourist visit the country. 

In the award ceremony, Moroccan Ambassador to Nepal Larbi Reffouh expressed his country’s interest in the development of infrastructures in agriculture, tourism and introduction of advanced technology in irrigation along with cooperation in human resource development and providing support and training and technological assistance for the sectors in Nepal.
