Diplomats Stress on Economic Diplomacy

April 5: Consul Generals for India and China have stressed on effective role of economic diplomacy for the prosperity of the country. They expressed their views on an interaction programme organized by Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) on April 4 which was focused on promoting economic activities.

The programme was held with the participation of newly appointed Consul Generals- Ek Narayan Aryal for Kolkata, Govinda Karki for Lahsa and Kamal Bharttarai for Honkong. Stating that the implementation of the policy and programmes announced by the government as their major duty, the diplomats jointly committed to focus on the economic development of the country.

Meanwhile, NCC President Rajesh Kaji Shrestha urged to remove hassles and simplify export-import procedures at the major trade point Kolkata. He also stressed a need on the re-routing of Lahsa trade point from where goods are being held after the last year’s earthquake. “Ease of visa processes is important to flourish trade with Hongkong,” he said.  Shrestha also suggested establishing information rooms at the Consulate General offices along with exchange of business delegations for effective economic diplomacy.
