April 8: Ekta Development Bank, prioritising rural finance, has opened two new branches in Srinagar and Tharmare of Salyan district. With the opening of the branches, the bank now has 14 branches in various part of the country.
Dr Dhruba Lal Dhakal, Chairman of the bank and Sudan Shrestha, Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Salyan jointly inaugurated the Srinagar branch. Similarly, Tek Bahadur Basnet, Member of Constitutional Assembly and Govinda Rijal, Chief District Officer jointly inaugurated the Tharmare branch.
Established in 2011, Ekta Bank has authorised capital of Rs 400 million and paid-up capital of Rs 227.7 million. Bank is serving more than 35,000 customers. The Bank is in process to merge with Siddhartha Development Bank and Nepal Aawas Finance to meet the new capital requirement for BFIs implemented by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The merger proposal has already been endorsed by the bank’s AGM, while it is subjected to approval from NRB.
