Jayant Chand Appointed Commerce Minister

April 18: Jayant Chand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has been appointed as the Minister of Commerce. The appointment of commerce minister came six months after the formation of government under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The ministry of Commerce and Supplies was earlier broken down into Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Supply separately.

Chand is the President of RPP and son of former Prime Minister Lok Bahadur Chand. He took his oath as the minister President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on April 17. Deepak Bohara the Minister of Labour and Employment who also was the parliament member of RPP had been handling the Commerce Ministry as no minister was appointed earlier.
