Handicraft Trade Fair Concluded

May 10: The 13th Handicraft Trade Fair and the 11th Competitive Handicraft Exhibition concluded on Monday. According to the organiser, Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal (FAHN), transactions worth Rs 65 million took place in the five-day event that started on Thursday, May 5. Pashmina, metal and wooden artifacts, silver jewelries, handmade paper goods, woolen items, leather clothes and Thangka were displayed in the fair.

Similarly, names of the winners of the Competitive Handicraft Exhibition and the Best Pavilion and Stall were also announced in the event.  Rabindra Bajracharya won the first place in the competition while Yogendra Bajracharya and Rupesh Bajracharya were named1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively.  Likewise, Ajin Tamrakar and Rachana Tamrakar jointly won the first position in the competition of felt craft products. Meanwhile, Mithu Magar and Ramila Tamang were announced 1st runner up and 2nd runner respectively. The Best Pavilion Award went to Sabah Nepal and Dhanusa Handicraft Federation was awarded with the Best Stall title.

Importers from countries including Bangladesh and China participated in the fair which was visited by around 300,000 visitors. According to FHAN, foreign importers placed orders of handicraft products worth Rs 100 million in the fair.
