June 14: The first National Culinary Competition organized by Mid-Valley International College, affiliated to Help University, Malaysia has concluded. Winners of the competition were awarded with cash prizes.
According to a press statement by the college, Uttam Thapaliya, Commis Chef of Hyaat Regency Hotel won the first prize. Similarly, Paban Khatiwada, Commie of Shangri-La Hotel won the second prize and Ajay Sharma, Commis Chef of Hyatt Regency was awarded with the third prize.
“The first, second and third sopt winners received upto Rs 25,000 cash prize in the form of the three categories, Gold, Silver and Bronze,” informs the release. The competition had three phases where five chefs compete against each other, and challenge to make dishes selected as per the category.
“We have so many excellent cooks in this country who are eager to learn, grow, and advance their careers, as well as cook on a national stage,” says Managing Director, of MVIC Reetal Rana.
The competition was judged by Souji Gopalakrishna, Head, School of Hospitality and Tourism, ELM Business School. HELP University, Malaysia including professors and chefs.
