BOK Starts Eight New Branchless Banking

July 3: Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) has started operation of eight new branchless banking services on July 2. The services were launched with the opening ceremonies at each of the locations. The service has been started in Pratappur 2 in Kailali, Bangesal-7 and Dhungegadi-3 in Pyuthan, Sishaniya-5 in Dang, Patabhar-9 and Manau-5 in Bardiya, Tilakpur-6 in Nawalparasi and Siktan-6 in Rupandehi.

 “The bank plans to further introduce additional branchless banking services in future,” informs the bank in a press statement. According to the bank, UK Aid Sakchyam Access to Finance Program is supporting BOK in the establishment of twenty-four branchless banking touch points, as a part of its larger branchless banking initiative. “The bank has started the service with an aim to provide efficient and effective services to population without banking access and lower income group,” reads the statement. With these openings, the number of branchless banking service has reached 33 across the country.
