The 132-kV double circuit transmission line, vital for improving power supply to Dhanusha, Mahottari, and surrounding areas, has come into operation.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the transmission line from Dhalkebar in Dhanusha to Loharpatti in Mahottari, along with the Loharpatti 132-kV substation, has been completed and is functional from Thursday.

The project was jointly constructed by the government and NEA at a cost of around Rs 1.13 billion to improve power supply in Dhanusha and Mahottari. The project also aims to manage the rising demand for power and make the power supply reliable and efficient.

The length of the double-circuit transmission line is 23 kilometres. A total of 91 towers have been constructed for the transmission line. The substation includes two 132/33 kV power transformers, each with a capacity of 30 MVA, and one 22.5 MVA transformer. Overall, the capacity of the substation is 82.5 MVA.

Around 150,000 customers in the Janakpur, Jaleshwor, Gaushala, and Yadukuwa distribution centres will benefit once the sub-station begins supplying power.

Munindra Thakur, Director of the NEA Madhes Province Office, stated that the issues of electricity leakage, low voltage, and power tripping would be addressed with the start of power supply from the new substation.

The construction of the project started around three years ago. -RSS
