For the first time, electricity from the national transmission line has reached Gosainkunda, the famous pilgrimage site in Rasuwa district of Bagamati Province. This development will ease the journey for pilgrims traveling to Gosainkunda.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has been actively working to supply power to remote areas, and this new connection has brought much-needed relief to both pilgrims and local residents.
Electricity service was activated on Friday evening in the area, which is situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters. With the arrival of electric lights, Gosainkunda has now become more vibrant. Kulman Ghising, the Executive Director of NEA, stated that electricity from the national transmission line was supplied on the eve of the Janai Purnima festival, enhancing the religious and tourist appeal of the Gosainkunda area. Previously, solar lights were used in the region.
"As part of our campaign to fully illuminate the country, we are extending electricity from the national grid to areas like Susta, Gosainkunda, Annapurna Base Camp, Upper Mustang, as well as to various religious, touristic, and historical sites, including monasteries, mosques, and temples," said Ghising.
A 15-KVA distribution transformer has been installed to power Gosainkunda, which is approximately eight kilometers from Chandanbari. The project to extend the power supply cost around Rs 30 million. -- RSS
