Efforts Underway to Pay Dairy Farmers: Minister Adhikari

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Ramnath Adhikari has committed to clear the dues of the dairy farmers, acknowledging that he was aware of the problems they are facing.

The ministry is currently in discussions with the Finance Ministry regarding the matter, he said. Minister Adhikari criticized dairy owners and industrialists for not paying milk producers and instead diverting funds for other uses.

Minister Adhikari made these remarks during a discussion with dairy entrepreneurs and stakeholders on Sunday. He stated that the government is actively working to pay the farmers through the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).

During the discussion, Secretary Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra instructed the DDC to conduct a study on how to resolve this issue.

In response, DDC Executive Director Dr Rajendra Prasad Yadav stated that the price adjustment for milk was made based on scientific considerations. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all stakeholders pay due attention to compensating the farmers who produce and supply milk to the dairy. -- RSS
