Nepal advanced to the semi-finals of the SAFF U-20 Championship as the Group ‘A’ winner after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bangladesh on Thursday.

According to All Nepal Football Association, Sameer Tamang and Nirajan Dhami scored for Nepal in the match held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato while Mirazul Islam scored for Bangladesh.

Despite the loss, Bangladesh secured second place in the group and also progressed to the semi-finals. Sri Lanka, the third team in the group, has crashed out of the tournament.

The semi-finalists from Group ‘B’ are yet to be determined, with India, Bhutan, and the Maldives still in contention. The outcome of Friday’s match between India and the Maldives will decide the remaining spot in the semi-finals.
