An Indian bus fell into the Marshyangdi River in Tanahun district on Friday afternoon.
A passenger bus with an Indian number plate and en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara fell into the Marshyangdi River at Anbu Khaireni Rural Municipality-2, along the Prithvi Highway, reported the Rastriya Samachar Smiti, the state-owned news agency, citing DSP Deepak Kumar Raya at Tanahun District Police Office.
The passengers were Indian Pilgrims, Raya told RSS.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu said through a post on X that there were around 43 Indian nationals on board and the bus fell 150 metres into the river. “The embassy is coordinating with local authorities undertaking relief and rescue,” reads the post.
Security personnel and locals carried out the rescue works. The details of the incident are yet to come.
