Water Supply Minister Calls for Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

Minister for Water Supply, Pradip Yadav, emphasized the need to develop climate-resilient infrastructure to address the challenges posed by climate change and mitigate its impacts. Speaking at a workshop titled "How to Make Infrastructure in the Hindu Kush Himalayas Climate Resilient," organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Yadav highlighted the importance of promoting infrastructure development that can withstand the effects of climate change.

He praised the ADB's study on climate change-induced issues in the Hindu Kush region and acknowledged the organization's ongoing support for the ministry. Referring to the 2022 floods caused by the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk, Yadav stressed the need to approach development projects with a new perspective to better manage the risks associated with climate change.

Yadav also called for multi-risk assessments, early warning systems, financial management, and regional cooperation to enhance climate-resilient infrastructure. He described the ADB as a trusted development partner of Nepal and expressed confidence that their collaboration would continue to strengthen in the future.  -- RSS
