Snowfall in Gosainkunda

The Gosainkunda area of Langtang National Park witnessed snowfall on Wednesday. The local residents reported snowfall at different places including the upper belt of Satdhara and Lauribinayak en route to the famed Gosainkunda Lake.
The snowfall has resulted in chilling cold in areas such as Dolang, Rajang, Singbandi, Larchyangtar, Bachha and Lokil of Naukunda Rural Municipality, chairperson of the rural municipality, Menger Thing Tamang, told the state-run national news agency RSS.    
Children and senior citizens with health problems are suffering due to the cold brought by the snow, he added.    
However, farmers are elated with the snowfall expecting good production of winter crops, said Gormen Tamang, a youth of Yarsa Doklang.

Gosainkunda is renowned for the Gosainkunda Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters above sea level, where large number of devotees visit the sacred pilgrimage site every year to mark the Janai Purnima festival. (With inputs from RSS)
