Nepal has been witnessing the effects of cyclone 'Dana', the Meteorological Forecasting Division said. The division added that there is a possibility of light rainfall in eastern parts of the country on Friday due to the impact of the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.
Meteorologist at the Division, Min Kumar Aryal, told the state-run national news agency RSS that light rainfall has been predicted at some places of Koshi and Madhes provinces due to the impact of the cyclone.
"The effect of cyclone which developed in the Bay of Bengal a few days ago will be seen in eastern parts of the country," RSS quoted Aryal as saying.
Meanwhile, weather expert Binod Pokharel wrote on social media that cyclone Dana made a landfall in north Odisha and West Bengal bringing heavy rainfall, high storm and damaging winds. However, the cyclone will not have direct impact in Nepal but eastern Terai may get some clouds and wind along with rainfall in the mid-hills on Friday, added Pokharel, who is also an associate professor at the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology of Tribhuvan University.
