The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged 0.48% percent, or by 12.58 points, on Sunday, January 19, to close at 2,601.21.
Daily turnover on the first trading day of the week surpassed Rs 6.25 billion, compared to over Rs 5.93 billion the previous trading day.
A total of 12,982,619 shares changed hands through 72,540 transactions on the day.
All major indices—the Sensitive Index, Float Index, and Sensitive Float Index—ended the day in the green, with gains of 0.55 percent, 0.50 percent, and 0.49 percent, respectively.
Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited (BNL) emerged as the top gainer of the day, hitting the upper circuit limit. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) followed with an increase of 9.09 percent in its share price.
In contrast, Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) hit the lower circuit limit, becoming the biggest loser.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led in turnover, followed by Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) and Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Limited (TAMOR).
Of the 13 sub-indices, the Manufacturing and Processing Index surged the highest, by 2.57 percent. In contrast, three sub-indices–Hotels and Tourism Index, Trading Index and Mutual Fund Index–ended in the red, dropping by 0.08 percent,0.13 percent, and 0.46 percent, respectively.
