Nepal’s renewable energy sector is set to witness a significant transformation as Golyan Power partners with India’s largest solar EPC company, Prozeal Green Energy, to embark on an ambitious solar power initiative. This collaboration aims to generate 500 megawatts of solar energy across various regions in Nepal within two years, representing a key milestone in the nation’s shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
The joint venture, Prozeal Green Energy Nepal, was officially launched during the Prozeal Green Energy Summit in Kathmandu. With a solar capacity exceeding two gigawatts, Prozeal Green Energy brings substantial expertise to Nepal’s renewable energy landscape.
Chairman of Prozeal Green Energy, Shobhit Baijnath Rai, underscored the transformative potential of the project, stressing its role in reducing Nepal’s carbon emissions and fostering a greener future. “Our mission is to support Nepal’s energy transition by introducing clean and sustainable solar power solutions,” he remarked.
Ganesh Karki, president of the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN), expressed optimism about Nepal achieving energy self-reliance. "With the active involvement of the private sector, Nepal can attain energy independence within a few years. However, a clear policy framework for solar energy is essential to fully realise this potential," Karki emphasised.
Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr Ram Prasad Dhital, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing renewable energy projects. He highlighted ongoing efforts to develop policies supporting renewable energy and assured continued encouragement for private-sector participation. "The government is always ready to support investments in renewable energy, and we hope to see increasing contributions from the private sector," Dr Dhital stated.
