TikTok has launched its Family Pairing feature in Nepal, a move the company says is aimed at promoting safer and more informed digital experiences for teenagers on the platform.

The feature enables parents and guardians to link their TikTok accounts with those of their children, allowing them to manage a range of safety and privacy settings remotely. These include screen time limits, restrictions on direct messaging, content filtering, and account discoverability controls.

"At TikTok, the safety of our community is our highest priority, especially when it comes to young users," said Ferdous Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, South Asia at TikTok. "The launch of the Family Pairing feature in Nepal is part of our continued efforts to provide families with meaningful tools that encourage responsible digital habits."

To activate the feature, users can access it through the platform’s “Settings and Privacy” menu and pair accounts via a QR code scan. Once connected, guardians can monitor and adjust settings without requiring physical access to the teen's device.

TikTok said the feature includes more than 15 customizable tools focused on digital wellbeing and user safety. The rollout in Nepal is accompanied by a nationwide awareness campaign featuring local celebrities and digital influencers, with promotions across mainstream media, social media, and billboards.

TikTok, which is registered as a platform in Nepal, said it is working with the Nepalese government and other stakeholders to promote a safe and inclusive online environment.

The introduction of Family Pairing in Nepal is part of TikTok’s broader global strategy to strengthen platform safety and transparency, particularly for younger users. -- Updated news
