The government has earmarked Rs 18.61 billion for the Ministry of Forest and Environment in the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26—a notable increase from the Rs 15.70 billion allocated in the current fiscal year.
Announcing the budget, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel emphasized the government’s commitment to environmental protection, particularly in addressing the growing threat of forest fires. He said that strict penalties will be imposed on individuals responsible for setting forest fires, while those who report such incidents will be rewarded.
