The government has introduced a new provision permitting Nepali individuals and businesses to invest abroad, as part of the fiscal year 2025/26 budget.
Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced that Nepali entrepreneurs and companies will now be allowed to establish international sales branches or set up processing plants by exporting semi-processed goods.
Under this scheme, businesses can invest up to 25 percent of their total export earnings in foreign ventures. However, all such overseas investments will require prior approval from the Investment Board Nepal.
