A day after presenting the annual financial plan for the upcoming fiscal year, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said Friday, May 30, that the budget was not prepared to please the ears.
“Implementing the budget is a demanding task. It is not designed to please the ears of citizens,” he said. “Starting today, my full attention will be on ensuring its effective execution.”

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Finance, Paudel emphasized his administration has already initiated the development of a comprehensive implementation plan.
Reiterating that the budget is realistic and not overly ambitious, he expressed confidence in meeting the revenue targets. He also noted that estimates for internal borrowing were made within the fiscal ceilings recommended by the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission.

Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, Vice Chair of the National Planning Commission, echoed this commitment, stating that the commission is actively working to ensure the budget’s implementation is both effective and inclusive.
“We will work in close coordination with all ministries and implementing agencies at every stage,” Dr. Adhikari said.
