Bhaktapur received a total of 244,868 foreign tourists during Fiscal Year 2024/25, according to data from the Tourism Department of Bhaktapur Municipality.
Of the total visitors, 115,487 were from SAARC countries and neighboring China, while the remaining 129,381 arrived from non-SAARC or "third" countries, the municipality stated.
The local government collected over Rs 290 million in revenue from entrance fees charged to foreign tourists, said Damodar Suwal, Information Officer at Bhaktapur Municipality.
Among the 14 entry points into Bhaktapur, Indian nationals made up the largest group of tourists, with 79,132 visitors, followed by 36,135 from China. Suwal noted that the city also welcomed significant numbers of tourists from Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other countries.
As per the municipality’s policy, tourists from SAARC countries and China are charged Rs 500 per person for entry, while visitors from non-SAARC countries are required to pay Rs 2,000 per person. – RSS
