Nepal welcomed a total of 70,193 foreign tourists in July 2025, marking an 8.7 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Citing the NTB, the state-run news agency RSS reported that the country achieved a 99 percent recovery in tourist arrivals compared to the pre-pandemic level of April 2019, indicating that Nepal’s tourism sector is regaining momentum after the COVID-19 slowdown.

In the first seven months of 2025 (January–July), Nepal welcomed 647,882 foreign visitors, the highest number recorded for this period since the pandemic. NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi told RSS the figures reflect Nepal’s ongoing tourism revival and its growing appeal as a popular global destination.

According to RSS, India remained the largest source market in July, contributing 27,152 tourists or 38.7 percent of total arrivals. China ranked second with 6,890 visitors (9.8 percent), followed by the United States with 6,626 (9.4 percent), Bangladesh with 4,413 (6.3 percent), and the United Kingdom with 3,547 (5.1 percent), added the news report.

By region, South Asia accounted for the highest share with 33,787 arrivals (48.1 percent), followed by other Asian countries at 13,052 (18.6 percent). Europe contributed 9,292 visitors (13.2 percent), the Americas 12,775 (11.1 percent), Oceania 1,807 (2.6 percent), the Middle East 826 (1.2 percent), Africa 318 (0.5 percent), and other regions 3,329 (4.7 percent).

“The ongoing promotional campaigns under the Visit Nepal Decade, increased private sector investment, and a variety of tourism products have significantly boosted Nepal’s attractiveness among international travelers,” RSS quoted Joshi as saying.
