At least four people were killed and over 50 went missing in a huge cloudburst that hit a village in the Uttarakashi region of India's northern hilly state of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
The cloudburst led to landslides and massive floods in the area, said a local official.
Somewhere in #Uttarkashi, a child is crying for her parents. A man is digging with bare hands to find what’s left. And we say “climate change is not that serious”? This is not just a crisis. It’s a collapse of humanity. Prayers to the people of #Uttarakhand. Please be safe 🙏🏻 pic.twitter.com/pjSKo09zfC

A TV footage showed a strong current of slush gushing down the hill, washing away several buildings. Several people were said to be buried in the slush and debris.
According to the latest reports, rescue and relief teams had reached the affected area. Efforts were being made to bring out those buried.
Local officials said they were still assessing the extent of damage, including the human lives lost in the natural disaster.
