The Koshi Provincial Assembly on Sunday, August 10, passed a bill to establish and operate a contribution-based pension fund.
The motion, tabled by Ram Bahadur Magar, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, was unanimously endorsed by the House, according to the state-owned RSS news agency.
Another bill, concerning the official language of the province, was also tabled.
Presenting it, Minister for Social Development Panchkarna Rai said that although the Language Commission had recommended 14 languages, Limbu and Maithili would be used as the official languages.
Notably, during the special hour of the meeting, Nirmala Limbu, parliamentary party leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party in the Koshi Provincial Assembly, delivered her speech in her mother tongue.
