Around 600 containers loaded with vegetables, fruits, and other goods have been stranded on the Chinese side of the border at Tatopani Customs for nearly two weeks after landslides blocked sections of the Kodari Highway.
Debris has obstructed the road at Iku in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 for the past 12 days. Amit Kumar Shrestha, chief of the Charikot-based Road Division Office, said the disruption was caused by a continuous flow of mud.
Arjun Sapkota, chairperson of the Nepal Truck Container Transportation Service, told state-owned RSS that a two-kilometre stretch is impassable. “Efforts are underway to move the goods using porters,” he said, criticising the government for its slow response in clearing the debris.
