The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its gains Tuesday, August 19, rising 0.23% or 6.51 points to close at 2,776.90. It ended 0.33% higher the previous day.
Over 13.12 million shares were traded through 61,784 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 5.63 billion, down from Rs 6.17 billion Monday.
Out of the 249 listed companies traded, 142 gained while 107 declined.
All major indices ended higher. The Sensitive Index, tracking A-class companies, climbed 0.36%, while the Float Index, representing publicly tradable shares, rose 0.21%. The Sensitive Float Index went up 0.30%.
All 13 sectoral indices closed in positive territory, with the Manufacturing and Processing Index leading at 0.46%. It was followed by the Banking sub-index, up 0.40%, and Mutual Fund at 0.29%. The Finance Index gained the least, 0.02%.
On the individual stock front, Sanvi Energy Limited (SANVI) emerged as the top gainer, soaring 6.98% while Narayani Development Bank Limited (NABBC) became the biggest loser, dropping 6.14%. Their last traded prices were Rs 727.93 per share and Rs 1,459.25 per share, respectively.
In terms of turnover, United Modi Hydropower Ltd. (UMHL) led the market with Rs 317.23 million, followed by Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) at Rs 283.76 million and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd. (RADHI) at Rs 203.37 million.
The overall market capitalization increased to Rs 4,637.13 billion from Rs 4,626.26 billion the previous day.
