Chinese automaker Changan has launched its compact electric car, the Lumin, in Nepal. The vehicle was unveiled by MAW Vriddhi, Changan’s authorised distributor, on the opening day of the NADA Auto Show in Kathmandu on Tuesday, August 19. Priced at Rs 2.29 million, it is the most affordable car introduced at the event.
Powered by a 35 kW motor paired with a 28.08 kWh CATL battery, the Lumin offers a claimed driving range of up to 301 km on a single charge. The EV supports DC fast charging, with the battery recharging from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes, according to the company.
Built on Changan’s EPA0 Pure Electric Platform, the two-door hatchback seats four and comes in compact dimensions—3,270 mm long, 1,700 mm wide, 1,545 mm tall, with a 1,980 mm wheelbase—designed for urban manoeuvrability.
Inside, the Lumin features a contemporary cabin with a three-spoke steering wheel, 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, reverse camera, mobile connectivity, and voice control.
Positioned as a city-friendly EV, the Lumin is aimed at daily urban commuting while combining affordability with modern electric mobility, Changan said.
