Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has launched the LMC Digital Haat Bazaar App to promote products made by local women entrepreneurs.

The Women and Children Section of the metropolis introduced the app to support marketing of goods and services produced by women entrepreneurs and to connect them to consumers at low cost.

Speaking at the launch event, Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan said the app was designed to expand sales, distribution, and promotion of goods in the digital era. He expressed confidence that the initiative would benefit more than 750 women’s groups in the city.

“I urge all women entrepreneurs to make maximum use of this app. Among the 753 local governments and seven provincial governments in Nepal, Lalitpur is performing outstandingly. Many of our initiatives can serve as learning examples for other local bodies,” he said.

Mayor Maharjan also noted that the LMC Alert app has already facilitated 22 types of services. With the new system, services have become easier, eliminating the need for late-night calls to elected representatives. “The one-door service system and the app have ended the hassle for service seekers of visiting multiple municipal offices,” he added.

Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya said the initiative aims to address challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and to ensure that their products reach consumers. She expressed confidence that the platform would make it easier to market small-scale products and services while providing fair returns to entrepreneurs.

Head of the Women and Children Section, Shobha Kharel, said the app will allow buyers to directly contact sellers and purchase goods. She added that the metropolis has set a target of taking the products of 10 women entrepreneurs to the international market this year. -- RSS
