The Nepali Army has announced that the ongoing prohibitory orders and curfew in Kathmandu Valley will remain in force on Friday in response to the prevailing security situation. The District Security Committees of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur decided to extend the restrictions to safeguard public life and property, the army said in a statement issued on Thursday evening.

Under the updated order, a prohibitory order will be in place on Friday, September 12, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, followed by a curfew from 7:00 pm the same day until 6:00 am on Saturday, September 13. Limited movement is allowed on Friday from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and again from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for essential shopping, religious or cultural practices, and travel to and from workplaces.

Essential services, including ambulances, fire trucks, health workers, security personnel, media, and vehicles transporting food, gas, fuel, milk, vegetables, water, telecommunications equipment, and medicines, are permitted to operate throughout the curfew. Employees of government offices, the National Human Rights Commission, banks, and other public institutions may travel to work by presenting an original (non-digital) identification card. Domestic and international air passengers can reach the airport by showing their flight tickets. The public is requested to coordinate with nearby security personnel when necessary.

The Army further clarified that the brief windows for essential movement are strictly meant for critical tasks and not for gatherings of any kind. Demonstrations, rallies, sit-ins, or similar activities remain fully prohibited even during these permitted hours. Authorities outside the Kathmandu Valley will impose similar measures according to local security conditions. The Army urged residents to cooperate fully with security personnel to ensure public safety and to support humanitarian efforts.
