Public bus services from the Gongabu-based New Bus Park resumed on Friday morning after being suspended for several days due to curfews and prohibitory orders imposed in the wake of the September 8–9 Gen Z protests.
According to Pankaj Malla, Human Resources Chief of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., dozens of long-distance buses departed the Kathmandu Valley between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, the umbrella body of transport operators, had earlier instructed its members to halt services amid the unrest. The Federation’s Senior President Saroj Sitaula said that while some vehicles left the Valley independently on Friday, September 12, discussions are ongoing with security agencies and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to coordinate regular operations in the days ahead. -- RSS
