Gold prices in Nepal surged to an all-time high of Rs 221,700 per tola (11.66 grams) on Tuesday, up Rs 3,900 on Monday when it was traded for Rs 217,800.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, silver also climbed to Rs 2,680 per tola.

The latest spike mirrors a continuing global rally, with international prices hovering around USD 3,748 per ounce on Tuesday. Earlier this month, the yellow metal had already set multiple domestic records—reaching Rs 217,100 per tola on September 16, after hitting Rs 207,900 per tola on September 4 during a streak of four consecutive record-breaking sessions.

International markets have likewise posted historic highs. Gold touched USD 3,501.59 per ounce in Asian trading two weeks ago, surpassing the previous April peak of USD 3,500.10.

Former Federation president Manik Ratna Shakya attributed the relentless rise mainly to global political and economic uncertainties. The Federation aligns Nepal’s daily gold rate with international market movements. (One ounce equals 31.1 grams.)
