More than 553,000 people have left Kathmandu Valley for the Dashain festival, while over 285,000 people have entered during the same period, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
From Ghatasthapana, the first day of the 15-day Dashain festival on September 22, until Tuesday morning, a total of 553,261 people departed the Valley. In the same period, 285,308 people entered via 72,041 vehicles.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navaraj Adhikari, chief of the Traffic Police Office, said additional personnel have been mobilized at checkpoints and parking areas to manage the surge in festive travelers.
“For the convenience and safety of passengers, help desks, vehicle monitoring teams, and emergency rescue teams have been activated. Traffic police are on duty around the clock,” SSP Adhikari said. -- RSS
