All domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been cancelled amid adverse weather conditions. TIA spokesperson Rinji Sherpa said the cancellations were due to low visibility caused by heavy rainfall. International flights, however, are operating as scheduled.

Earlier, Buddha Air suspended all flights planned for today, October 4. In an official update on X, the airline urged passengers to contact their travel agencies, booking portals, or its call centre (01 5970900) for rescheduling or refunds. Passengers can also email: [email protected].

Continuous rain since Friday evening has disrupted flight operations at multiple airports, including TIA. Domestic flights from TIA were suspended Saturday morning. Hansa Raj Pandey, General Manager at TIA, had earlier confirmed that flights to and from Kathmandu, Bharatpur, Janakpur, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, and Tumlingtar have been grounded due to poor weather.

The government has declared a two-day public holiday on Sunday and Monday (October 5 and 6) following forecasts of persistent heavy rainfall nationwide. Several areas of Madhesh Province have recorded very heavy rain in the past 24 hours, with Kalaiya in Bara receiving 200.6 mm by 3:20 pm. Meteorologists warn the downpour is likely to intensify Saturday night.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and take precautionary measures as adverse weather continues. Earlier today, authorities also suspended long-distance travel and urged the public to exercise maximum caution against possible rain-induced disasters.
