Continuous rainfall has put 16 locations along the Dhading sections of the Prithvi and Tribhuvan highways at high risk of landslides and road collapse.
A joint inspection by the District Disaster Management Committee and a technical team on Saturday, October 4, identified multiple danger zones on key highways leading into the federal capital.
Superintendent of Police Bheshraj Rijal urged the public to remain in safe locations, saying travel along the highways is currently unsafe. He noted that the highest risk area is Jawangkhola in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–10.
Other high-risk points include Jhyaple Khola (old landslide area), the tunnel route, Charkilo (road erosion), Satkilo, Kamere Bhir, Mahesh Dobhan (mudslide and flooding risk), Chiraudi Bridge, Jarekhet Bridge, Galaundi Bridge, Parewa Bhir, Hilltop Turn, Bandare Mod, Krishna Bhir, and Laltin Bazar.
The disaster management team warned that continued rainfall could trigger landslides in several of these vulnerable areas. Vehicles stranded by earlier blockages were cleared and allowed to proceed after temporary road restoration.
Chief District Officer Bijaya Raj Subedi said vehicles are being stopped from entering high-risk zones, with only emergency services allowed under police supervision.
The District Disaster Management Committee, Dhading, said risk reduction efforts are ongoing in coordination with the Department of Roads, police, and local bodies.
