With the monsoon gradually withdrawing from Nepal, the weather is expected to remain mainly fair across most parts of the country today, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
The Division said the weather will be partly cloudy in the hill areas, with a possibility of light rain in one or two places. Although the influence of monsoon and local winds has been gradually weakening, westerly winds are still affecting several areas in the western parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as some areas in western Gandaki Province, it added.
Tonight, the weather will remain partly cloudy in Koshi Province and mostly fair elsewhere, with a chance of light rain in a few hill areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had recently announced that the monsoon began withdrawing from Nepal on Monday, October 6. In its bulletin, the Department said the monsoon winds have been weakening gradually and are expected to retreat completely from the remaining parts of the country within the next few days.
This year’s monsoon withdrawal started four days later than the usual date of October 2, the Department noted.
